THE COLUMN THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION
my daily consumption of local, regional and world news comes from either STREATS or TODAY..most often than not, i would be browsing though STREATS as I feel it's a much easier read than TODAY as the layout is a little more lighthearted and colourful in comparison to the more solemn TODAY..nevertheless, i got TODAY instead of STREATS cos' i reached the mrt earlier by 10mins..STREATS will only reach the mrt at my place at 7:40am..
there was this one whole page on family matters and a small column on tips to keep marriages alive..there were 5 points on how to keep the marriage alive..let's see if my memory is still ok..1.give 2. do. 3.affirm 4. touch and one more....*thinking hard* err...i really can't remember..i must be dehydrated...let me discuss each of the 4 points above from my own perspective..
1. to give is to give love in terms of daily actions such as doing things for one another and to give food..yes the tip did mention about giving food..call me a traditionalist, but i subscribe to the old adage that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach..and, every woman should be able to cook for her man..what could be more loving than cooking for the one you love..
when you do cook with love, the result of the dishes that you've whipped out will be fantabulous but try cooking in anger..?? the end result of the dishes just do not work out right..well this is for the ladies..man would have to do their part too in giving to ensure blissful marriage..i believe when we give..we will receive even more..the more we give the more we will receive...and so the cycle continues...
2. do - yes..do things for each other..it's the little things that means so much..
3. affirm - by giving and doing, you have affirm your love to the marriage, to your husband/wife..and of cos' constant affirmation is important in a marriage or even before marriage..
4. well..touch - do not underestimate the power of touch
..i have not walked down the aisle as yet..but i would like to live by these rules that would enhance my current relationship even further and hopefully to follow through it even after i have stepped on the higher pedestal of a relationship...
just my thoughts..
